Miley Cyrus, 16, was not in any of the buses traveling in the caravan. The singer was actually en route to Nashville to spend some time at home before her show on Sunday in Greensboro, N.C. The show is set to go on as scheduled.

The Cyrus Family released the following statement: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill "Uncle Bill" Douglas. Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed."

"It was one of our tour buses, but not Miley’s,” her manager told TMZ. "It was one of our buses that transported our lighting crew."

An investigation is underway to determine exactly why the bus – part of a four vehicle caravan – drifted off the road and overturned. One person, presumed to be the bus driver, died, while nine other people sustained minor injuries.

The identity of the deceased will be released once next of kin is notified, according to a release from the Virginia state police.
