Katherine Jenkins, 30, Welsh classical crossover singer certainly has a bold sense of style. Last night she was spotted at the Gore Hotel, after the BBC Children In Need concert in London, dazzling in a plunging red satin gown encrusted with gems.
She is also the first female artist to win two consecutive Classical BRIT Awards. Her first album Premiere made her the fastest-selling mezzo-soprano to date and she later became the first British classical crossover artist to have two number one albums in the same year.
The classical singer looked elegant and slender in the show-stopping number, but the effect of the cut out panel on her stomach rather gave her the look of a belly dancer.
Katherine performed at the charity show at the Royal Albert Hall with Julian Lloyd Webber. She sang Parla Piu Piano accompanied by the cellist. After their performance, Jenkins and Lloyd Webber spoke of their delight at being invited to take part in the pop music event by organizer Gary Barlow.
She said: "I was honored to be part of this event and glad that Gary thought to include a classical act. It shows classical music is becoming more popular."
Lloyd Webber said: "I believe classical acts should be part of events like this. I thank Gary for thinking of it. It’s so often left out, if you think of the Princes’ concert for Diana, there were no classical acts."
