Famous beauties of the last five decades took to the red carpet last night for opening night gala at New York’s Metropolitan opera. Supermodels and actresses aged from 70 to 35 dressed in their finery for a night of culture at Manhattan’s Lincoln Center.

Jane Fonda (with friends Robin Laughin and Jane Buffett) looks sensational at 70.

Faye Dunaway, 67, goes for a silk halterneck gown, while Christie Brinkley, 54, goes for an Eighties-style mermaid gown.

Helena Christensen, 39, and Molly Sims, 35, went for youthful, champagne gowns.

Dame Helen Mirren and Mamma Mia star Christine Baranski cuddle up on the red carpet.
